Deborah Gita Flavia, RN, BScN, is the founder of the Divine Day Care Nursery and Junior School. She is also the director and Nursing officer in charge of the facility. A proud Ugandan, married with three adult children and a lifelong passion for helping children from all walks of life, backgrounds and circumstances, especially the more disadvantaged.
Her main role involves coordinating and ensuring that the facility runs well, from the day to day running of the programs at the facility to health assessments and nursing care of the children, plus collaborating (networking) with appropriate medical facilities and professionals to ensure that the children receive the necessary care and attention as well as adequate education.
Before founding Divine, Deborah served in various professional roles as outlined below.
1984 - 1985: Worked at Kajjansi health Centre III as the Nursing officer in charge.
1986 - 1999: Worked at Joy Medical center in Kampala as the Senior Nursing Officer in charge of the pediatric department.
2000- 2013: Worked at Mildmay Uganda as the Senior Nursing Officer in charge of the children’s ward and daycare unit.
2005 - 2008: Studied at Aga Khan University. On 24th January 2009 Graduated (BscN) and also received award for academic excellence for the bachelor of science in nursing programme 2005 - 2008 from Aga Khan University Uganda.
2013 June: Founded Divine Day Care and Nursery (A comprehensive children’s centre).
The training which Deborah received at Aga Khan University played a vital role in enhancing her natural ability and existing experience as well as equipping her with more advanced skills in child care, leadership and management. This combination of Deborah’s passion, experience, training and studying is the reason that she has been able to create and shape the Divine Day Care project into such a workable success.
Divine Services
The centre caters for disadvantaged children most of them with special needs including physical and psychological challenges, HIV /AIDS and other medical problems, malnourished children and those whose parents are psychotic (mentally ill) and therefore not able to take care of them. They receive medical and nursing care plus formal school education. It’s a community based organization in Kajjansi, Kampala Uganda.

Deborah Gita always had a passion for starting the Divine Day Care facility and saved what money she could all through her working life. When she retired she added all of her retirement money to her savings and witnessed the birth of her project, which she has continued to demonstrate such a passion for.
